It is important to have an annual eye exam to monitor the health of your eyes. A comprehensive dilated eye exam by an ophthalmologist is necessary to find eye diseases in the early stages when treatment to prevent vision loss is most effective. During the exam, visual acuity, depth perception, alignment and eye movement are tested. The doctor will look inside your eyes for signs of any health problems. Eye doctors may even spot other conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes, sometimes even before your primary care provider.
For patients with certain conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma, or taking high-risk medication may need an annual exam to monitor progression of their condition.
Our office is able to complete your annual exam and monitor these conditions.
